Lagos is set to host the maiden National Intermediate Games, with no fewer than 15,000 athletes aged 15 to 18 expected to compete across 23 compulsory and five optional sporting disciplines.
Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Sam Egube, disclosed this during a media parley in Lagos, describing the event as a significant platform for youth development, talent discovery and national unity.
The games will take place from October 1 to 15, 2026, across 10 venues in the state, bringing together some of Nigeria’s brightest young sporting talents.
Organisers say the competition is designed to strengthen grassroots sports development and provide a pathway for identifying and nurturing the next generation of Nigerian athletes.
