Twenty people have been killed in a multiple-vehicle crash along the Hawan Kibo Road in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The accident, which occurred on Friday evening, involved a truck, a Hummer bus, other vehicles and a motorcycle. The Federal Road Safety Corps said the truck reportedly suffered brake failure and rammed into vehicles travelling towards Jos.
The impact caused the Hummer bus to catch fire, resulting in the deaths of 18 passengers, while two people on a motorcycle also died in the crash.
The FRSC has deployed personnel to the scene to manage traffic, clear the road and evacuate the victims. The agency also urged motorists to maintain their vehicles properly and avoid speeding.
