An executive law on the new national minimum wage for workers will soon be brought to the National Assembly for passage, according to President Tinubu’s remarks on Democracy Day.
However, the NLC has criticized the statement and stated that it won’t budge from its demand.
In a statement, the NLC—which was represented by Adewale Adeyanju in place of Joe Ajaero, who is in Geneva, Switzerland—stated that “the NLC would have expected that the advisers of the President would have told him that we neither reached any agreement with the federal government and the employers on the base figure for a National Minimum Wage nor on its other components.”
