Minimum Wage: Tinubu, Labour Discussions Postponed to next week

The minimum wage negotiations between President Bola Tinubu and Organised Labour were postponed till next week to provide more time for stakeholder participation.

At around 2:00 pm, the leaders of organised labour, led by Festus Osifo, the President of the Trade Union Congress, and Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, arrived at the State House and were escorted into Tinubu’s office.

Recently, the President received two submissions from the Tripartite Committee on the new national minimum wage: N62,000 from the government team and the organised corporate sector, and N250,000 from the Organised Labour.

The President had postponed delivering any figures to the National Assembly through the Executive Bill to confer with all pertinent parties and settle any controversial matters after the debate over the amount.
