Judge Postpones Yahaya Bello’s Arraignment to September 25

The lawsuit against former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging money laundering, has been postponed to September 25 by Judge Emeka Nwite of The Federal High Court Abuja.

Abdulwahab Mohammed (SAN), the former Governor’s Attorney informed the court of the Defendant’s request for a delay in the case’s proceedings, while the Appeal Court considered an earlier arrest warrant issued by the lower court and other decisions.

The Defendant’s Attorney cited in his argument why the court could not move further with the case until the outcome of the ongoing appeal was known while the counsel for the EFCC, Kemi Pinheiro, as expected opposed vehemently while stating the defendant had not shown any Court of Appeal document to stay the proceeding.
