Eight months after it was established, the 10th Senate has at last appointed a 45-member committee to examine and revise the 1999 Constitution.
The Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday, announced the composition of the committee during the conference meeting.
The President of the Senate stated that a review of the 1999 constitution was necessary since it had several problems that needed to be “put right.”
He stated that lawmakers who constituted the constitution amendment committee were selected from all states and geo-political zones.
He said that the committee to alter the constitution will be established on Tuesday of next week and that they would start the review process right away.
