Protest: Police Promise to Avert Violence, Deploy 4,200 Men in FCT

The Niger Police has vowed to resist violence during the planned nationwide protest slated for August 1.

In an Abuja statement on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh stated that 4,200 police officers have been deployed by the FCT Command to quell any potential violence during the demonstration.

The order was issued in advance of the planned statewide demonstration by a group of human rights advocates and young Nigerians to voice their public disapproval of the country’s hunger and poverty.
