On Wednesday, Amusan easily advanced to the semi-finals, defeating Alaysha Johnson of the USA in second place with a time of 12.61 seconds and Janeek Brown in third place with a time of 12.84 seconds.
In the first of three semi-finals, the Nigerian will square off against four opponents, including the current world champion Danielle Williams, Grace Stark of the USA, and Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas.
The top two finishers in each race will advance automatically to the final on Saturday, and the top two non-automatic qualifiers will join them.
The 27-year-old produced the second-fastest time in the heats, behind Olympic champion and Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, who ran 12.42s.
Amusan was in high spirits after perfectly exciting her first-round race.
