The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has declared the demolition of ten overhead tanks and thirteen illicit processing sites to stop oil thieves and economic saboteurs from breaking oil pipelines and syphoning crude oil and its products.
Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the Air Force’s Director of Public Relations and Information, stated in a statement that during operations along the Imo River near Obuzor and Okoloma, several active illegal refining sites were found to be taking advantage of the challenging terrain to commit their illegalities.
The statement further stated that following the crew’s use of the aircraft’s weaponry, the Nigerian Air Force destroyed 13 locations. Many gallons and ten overhead tanks that were linked to reservoirs were also damaged in the process.
