President Bola Tinubu’s premier initiative in the field of education is the rollout of the student loan program.
The Nigeria Education Loan Fund has stated that students from the following 22 state-owned tertiary schools can now apply for loans on its portal: nelf.gov.ng. This information was shared via @NELFUND on X.
This came after the group in charge of the Student Verification System reviewed it. A total of 108 university students are now eligible to apply after 86 state-owned institutions were certified earlier, according to the announcement shared via @NELFUND on X.
With the addition of the 22 state-owned institutions, there are now 108 state institutions that have been authorised.
This event occurred just one month after President Tinubu established the fund. When he signed the Access to Higher Education Act, the president established the fund. This act establishes a legal framework for lending money to low-income or destitute Nigerians to help them pay their tuition at Nigerian postsecondary educational institutions.
