After a French court decided in favour of Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited and authorised the seizure of the Nigerian government’s presidential planes, the Federal Government of Nigeria accused the Chinese corporation of deceit.
Presidential Spokesman Bayo Onanuga claimed in a statement on Thursday that the Chinese company is attempting “to take over offshore assets of the Federal Government of Nigeria through subterfuge”.
The Chinese corporation was granted permission to detain three presidential aeroplanes that were undergoing normal repair in France as “security” for claims in a long-running legal battle between the foreign company and the government of Ogun State. The Paris court found in favour of the Chinese firm in the arbitration award case.
