FG Approves 50% Electricity Grant for Public Health Facilities

The Federal Government has granted public hospitals a nationwide 50% electricity subsidy.

Tunji Alausa, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, made this announcement on Thursday at the National Neo-Psychiatric Hospital in Barnawa, Kaduna State.

The solarisation project at the dialysis unit, which includes a solar-powered borehole and a 10.2 KVA inverter at the Abdulkareem Jika Yusuf COVID-19 Intervention Centre in the state, and the Electronic Health Records and Alternative Power Supply at the Lawal Jafaru Isah Emergency Complex were both put into service by the minister.

According to Alausa, the goal of this gesture is to lessen the financial burden on public hospitals while also improving patient outcomes.

To provide a wider range of healthcare services, he also declared intentions to rename the hospitals as Specialist Hospitals.
