Shettima made this claim on Monday at the Presidential Villa while meeting with the Nigerian News Agency’s leadership.
The Vice President was cited in a statement by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, as saying, “The President is very much interested in the security situation in the nation and is not taking it lightly.”
“The international lecture NAN is hosting is highly relevant, particularly concerning the Sahelian insecurity problem.”
He said that the security situation in the Sahel region has important ramifications for Nigeria and its neighboring nations, and he called for regional and cooperative measures to solve the insecurity in the area.
