In major Nigerian cities, transport costs have increased by more than fifty percent due to the most recent increase in petrol prices.

Along with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the pan-Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere demanded on Wednesday that the increase in the price of petrol be reversed.
This is despite the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria’s (MAN) caution that increased inflation could result from the price increase.
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) also declared yesterday that they would be staging a protest and closing major cities starting on this month’s 15th.
