FG Vows to Tackle Insecurity in Northwest

On Thursday evening, Mohammed Abubakar, the Minister of Defence, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to combating instability and banditry in the nation.

During his official trip to the North-West zone, the Minister made this statement during a courtesy call to Governor Uba Sani at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna.

The tour’s purpose is to complete the preparations for the start of Operation Fansan Yamma, a joint military theatre command created to address regional insecurity.

Speaking to reporters soon after the visit, Abubakar underlined that a Command and Control Centre in the Northwest region is an essential first step in combating the banditry threat.

“The president has given us the task of being creative and coming up with long-term fixes for this security issue. We’re putting a lot of effort into making sure it succeeds,” he stated.

The minister also emphasised the government’s joint anti-terrorism and anti-arms trafficking initiatives with bordering nations, especially the Niger Republic.
