After briefings with President Bola Tinubu, the Senate has called for a national summit to address the issue of out-of-school children.
This resolution was adopted during plenary following the submission of the Committee on Education (Basic & Secondary) report on the urgent need to address the issue of out-of-school children in Nigeria.
According to the committee’s chairman, Senator Usman Lawal Adamu, who represents Kaduna Central, over 2 million out-of-school children have been enrolled in the past year thanks to the combined efforts of the ministry’s agencies working on out-of-school children’s education.
In a robust debate by over 20 Lawmakers, the out-of-school children menace was identified as a time bomb, demanding solutions that transcend that of the Federal Government alone.
