FG Reverses 18-Year Admission Age For Tertiary Institutions

The Federal Government has rescinded the decision to set 18 as the threshold age for admission to postsecondary schools.

Tunji Alausa, the recently appointed Minister of Education, made the announcement at his first press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.

The decision to change the policy on the 18-year-old age limit for entrance to higher institutions was the centerpiece of the briefing, which gave the minister the opportunity to present his strategy.

In order to guarantee that those enrolling in our colleges would be 16 years old, the minister stated, “We will collaborate with JAMB and our universities.”

“Therefore, we will return to our previous 16-year period instead of continuing with the 18-year period.”
