The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), says its Investigation & Enforcement team has uncovered a trove of counterfeit medicines during a raid at Tyre Village, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State.
In a statement posted on its X account on Thursday, the Agency said that the operation resulted in the confiscation of counterfeit medications.
Among the counterfeit medications found were 500 mg of amoxicillin, 500 mg of ampicloxa capsules, and 625 mg of Augmentin capsule packaging materials.
It added that the facility has been placed on hold, and all illegal products have been evacuated.
With an estimated cost of over ₦300 million, these fake medications provide serious health hazards, such as organ damage, treatment failure, and possible cancerous effects because of their unidentified ingredients.
Investigations are underway, and the suspect has been invited to be questioned.
The statement said NAFDAC urges the public to exercise caution and report any suspect goods or activities to the NAFDAC office closest to them.
