Tinubu Praises NNPCL for Reopening Warri Refinery

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his great satisfaction with the reopening of the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

A statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), on Monday, hailed the reopening as another significant achievement in 2024, which has bolstered Nigerians’ confidence in the current administration.

The statement highlighted that the Warri Refinery resumed operations shortly after NNPCL restarted the Port Harcourt Refinery, which processes 60,000 barrels per day, in November.

With the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company now operational after years of dormancy, President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing local refining capacity and positioning Nigeria as a key hub for downstream industrial activities in Africa.

The statement further noted that the contract for the comprehensive rehabilitation and overhaul of the country’s four state-owned refineries was awarded during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s All Progressives Congress-led administration.
