Lagos State Government is set to deliver six new train sets to strengthen the capacity of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue and Red Lines.
This step will transform commuting and further drive economic growth across the state.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said these train sets, having successfully passed factory acceptance tests, are scheduled for shipment. Once they arrive, they will increase trips on the Blue Line and prepare US for the extension to Okokomaiko upon completing phase two.
Phase two of the Blue Line, a 14-kilometre stretch from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko, will connect even more communities, bringing our vision of seamless mobility closer to reality.
Since its launch in September 2023, the Blue Line has transformed commuting in Lagos with 72 daily trips along the Marina to Mile 2 corridor. With the new trains, we will increase capacity, ensuring an even faster and more efficient service for all Lagosians.
This expansion underscores the state’s commitment to building a Greater Lagos that works for everyone.
