The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mojisola Meranda, has pledged her commitment to ensuring the implementation of women-friendly policies that empower women and promote their well-being.
Hon. Meranda made this pledge during a courtesy visit from members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), led by Dr. Adeola Ekine.
She stated that creating an enabling environment for women not only empowers them but also promotes equal opportunities and fosters a more equitable society,” stated Hon. Meranda.
Dr. Ekine, during the visit, congratulated Hon. Meranda on her historic election as the first female Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. She added that the visit aimed to express solidarity and support for her leadership.
In recognition of her commitment to women’s empowerment, Hon. Mojisola Meranda was also decorated as the “Champion of Women Journalists in Lagos State” by NAWOJ.
Hon. Meranda’s election followed the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker of the 9th Assembly.
