Trump withdraws the U.S. from the W.H.O., Ends birthright Citizenship, and others

President Donald Trump signed a list of executive orders and other presidential actions on Monday upon his resumption.

He withdrew from the landmark Paris Agreement, rescinded 78 Biden-era executive actions, and implemented a federal hiring freeze.
He also signed several immigration-related executive orders, issued orders curbing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, announced upcoming tariffs on Canada and Mexico, and issued pardons to more than 1,500 people convicted of crimes related to the deadly January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Trump also targeted immigration with executive orders by ending birthright citizenship. The 14th Amendment to the Constitution says, “All persons born or naturalised in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”
He directed federal agencies to stop issuing passports, citizenship certificates, and other documents to children born in the US to mothers who are in the country illegally and fathers who are not citizens or legal permanent residents, or to mothers who are temporary visa holders (and fathers who are not citizens or legal permanent residents).

Trump said his edict, which would not apply retroactively, should be enforced in 30 days. But just hours after it was issued, the American Civil Liberties Union and other advocacy groups filed a lawsuit challenging the action in federal court.

Trump’s appointed dozens of Cabinet-level officials and acting officials across the government, pending Senate confirmation of Trump’s Cabinet nominees. Officials who were appointed in acting capacities via executive orders include:

  • James McHenry as acting attorney general.

-Robert Salesses as acting Secretary of Defense

-Dorothy Fink as acting Secretary of Health and Human Services

  • Benjamine Huffman as acting Secretary of Homeland Security

-Mark Averill as acting Secretary of the Army.

-Tom Sylvester as acting CIA director.

  • Mark Uyeda as acting chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Andrew Ferguson as chairman of the Federal Trade Commission.

US President Donald Trump fired four senior government officials appointed by his predecessor early Tuesday and warned that “over a thousand more” faced imminent dismissal in a first post on Truth Social since his inauguration.
Trump’s decision to dismiss them was attributed to the nonalignment of his vision to Make America Great Again,” Trump said on the platform.
He named four individuals – Jose Andres from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition; Mark Milley from the National Infrastructure Advisory Council; Brian Hook from the Wilson Centre for Scholars; and Keisha Lance Bottoms from the President’s Export Council—as being immediately dismissed.
