The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday, said the lawmakers will receive the report on the ₦54.2 trillion 2025 budget estimates this week for possible passage.
During plenary, Akpabio assured that the Senate Committee on Appropriations would present the report on the ₦54.2tn 2025 budget by Wednesday or Thursday.
He made this statement while addressing lawmakers following a debate on a bill proposing the establishment of a Federal University of Agriculture in Abak, Akwa Ibom State.
Akpabio emphasized the importance of finalizing the 2025 budget, explaining that some senators were absent from the chamber to finalize the Appropriation Bill.
“You may notice some of our colleagues are not in the chamber because they are working on the final details of the 2025 Appropriation Bill, which will be presented to us tomorrow (Wednesday) or the day after (Thursday),” Akpabio said.
He stressed the need to wrap up discussions quickly to ensure collective efforts in reviewing and passing the budget.
The 2025 Appropriation Bill, to be presented by Senate Committee on Appropriations Chairman Adeola Olamilekan, is set for final consideration and passage after the committee submits its report.
