Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has turned himself in to the Lagos State Police Command after being declared wanted.
He voluntarily reported to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba, marking an important step in the case against him.
After his surrender, Portable is being escorted to Ogun State, where he will be handed over to the local police for further processing.
This comes after a surprising claim by the singer on Tuesday, in which he alleged that he was undergoing treatment for mental health issues at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Abeokuta, and even referred to himself as a “madman”.
The singer’s claim of being a “madman” was part of a plea for leniency, directed at both the Nigerian public and the Ogun State Government, after he was officially declared a wanted person by the police.
The wanted declaration stemmed from allegations that Portable had physically assaulted three staff members from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, specifically from the Ota Zonal Office.
