The Federal Government has formalized an agreement with Brazil for the Green Imperative Project, which will see the South American nation invest approximately $8 billion into Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
The agreement was signed during a meeting chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, with a Brazilian delegation led by Ambassador Carlos Garcete, along with Nigeria’s Minister of State for Agriculture, Abdullahi Sabi, Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and the governors of Benue and Jigawa states, among others.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Marcus Ogunbiyi, signed the agreement on behalf of the Federal Government.
The Green Imperative Project is a private sector initiative focused on supporting small-scale farmers across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
Vice President Shettima highlighted that this initiative is part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to enhance food security in the country.
