Fubara Denies Links With Militants, Warns Against Fake Social Media Posts

Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has denied allegations connecting him to militant groups, labelling recent social media posts and videos as fake and malicious attempts to stir unrest in the state.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara condemned the circulation of fabricated videos that falsely claimed to show explosions at oil and gas facilities in the state.

The statement further clarified that the communities affected by these alleged incidents have debunked the claims, assuring that all vital infrastructure remains intact and fully operational.

“To clarify, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no ties to any militant group, has never considered such associations, and has no reason to encourage criminal elements to take actions that would threaten peace, security, or the economy,” the statement read.

Fubara reiterated his commitment to upholding peace in Rivers State, stressing that governance and development can only succeed in a stable environment.

He also warned against using the state’s ongoing political crisis to pursue ulterior motives.

The governor urged bloggers and social media influencers to refrain from spreading false information, cautioning that such actions could escalate tensions and undermine stability.

Fubara also called on security agencies to investigate and take appropriate action against those responsible for disseminating misinformation.
