Lagos Targets N5b In Sales At 2025 Tourism Fair

The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has announced a target of generating N5 billion in sales at the 2025 Lagos Tourism Fair.

Idris Aregbe, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s special adviser on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the state’s broader goals of fostering entrepreneurship and job creation.

The event, in collaboration with the Naija Brand Chick (NBC) trade fair, is scheduled to take place in Lagos from April 11 to 13.

“Tourism plays a vital role in driving economic activities, promoting trade, and facilitating cultural exchange,” Aregbe stated. “Our administration is committed to job creation, poverty alleviation, and the growth of SMEs, and events like this are integral to achieving those objectives.”

This marks the second time Lagos State has collaborated with NBC for the fair.

Organizers expect the 2025 edition to be notably larger, featuring an expanded marketplace with digital commerce opportunities, discounted shopping, and improved access for both vendors and attendees.

NBC founder Nelly Agbogu pointed out that Lagos is a key commercial hub, and the fair provides a platform for entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. “This event highlights the impact that proper support can have on helping small businesses scale and thrive,” Agbogu said. “We’re excited to create another meaningful opportunity for SMEs.”

In addition to traditional trade, the fair will include business masterclasses, interactive workshops, and financial inclusion initiatives aimed at connecting vendors with funding sources. Organizers also plan to introduce digital tools to facilitate ongoing business engagement beyond the event, helping vendors maintain customer relationships and boost sales.

The event will feature cultural performances, celebrity appearances, dance showcases, giveaways, and raffle draws to increase visibility and draw in a wider audience. The Lagos State Government sees the fair as part of its larger effort to position the city as a premier destination for business and tourism.

Preparations are underway to enhance the experience for both vendors and visitors. Aregbe mentioned that an online platform will be introduced, allowing remote participation and offering exclusive deals to buyers who can’t attend in person.

With over 220 vendors and 75,000 attendees expected, the event is poised to be a major success. The Lagos State Government’s ongoing support for trade fairs underscores its commitment to local economic development and reinforces Lagos as a key commercial center.

As excitement grows, stakeholders anticipate that this year’s fair will break previous sales records, further solidifying Lagos as a vibrant hub for trade and enterprise.
