Seven persons have lost their lives in a multiple accident that occurred Saturday morning along the Lagos/ Ibadan expressway.
Four individuals sustained injuries in the accident.
Florence Okupe, the Route Commander of the Ogun State Sector and Chief Public Education Officer of the Federal Roads Safety Corps, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Abeokuta, the state capital.
A total of 15 people were involved, consisting of 13 male adults and two females.
Among the 15 passengers, four individuals were injured—three male adults and one female adult—while seven others tragically lost their lives in the multiple crashes, including six male adults and one female adult, she reported.
According to her, the suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed by the Mack truck, which resulted in the driver losing control and colliding with two other vehicles.
“The injured victims were transported to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Center Hospital in Ibafo, while the deceased were taken to Idera Morgue in Sagamu.
“The crashed vehicles were towed off the road to allow for the free flow of traffic.
“Sector Commander Fasakin Akinwumi visited the crash scene to conduct further investigations, offering his condolences to the victims’ families. He urged them to reach out to the FRSC IBAFO for more information.”
