Another Fire Incident Hits Ibadan, Petrol Tanker Explosion Destroys Property Worth Millions
Less than 24 hours after a market inferno ravaged goods and properties worth millions of naira in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital has suffered yet another fire disaster.
This latest incident occurred at the Tollgate area of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, where a petrol tanker explosion caused extensive destruction. The explosion reportedly began around 3 p.m. near Lead City University Road, resulting in significant losses for nearby business owners and vehicle owners.
The Oyo State Fire Service Manager, Akinyinka Akinyemi, confirmed the incident, stating that a joint response by the state and federal fire services helped bring the blaze under control. However, several properties were already destroyed before the fire could be fully extinguished.
While the full extent of the damage is still being assessed at the time of this report, no casualties have been confirmed so far. Multiple vehicles, including cars and motorcycles parked along the road, were completely burnt during the incident.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and are working to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
