Presidential aide Daniel Bwala has dismissed social media rumors claiming that President Bola Tinubu is in France for medical treatment, stating that the reports are baseless.
“Sometimes on social media, you see people posting information, and you don’t even know who they are—it could be someone dealing with mental health issues. Yet, the information spreads,” Bwala said during an appearance on Sunday Politics on Channels Television.
He emphasized that “the president did not travel to see a doctor; he is on a working visit, and we have been sharing updates on his activities.”
President Tinubu departed Nigeria on April 2, 2025, for a short working visit to Paris, France, according to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.
In a video released by the presidency, Tinubu was seen bidding farewell to senior government officials before boarding the presidential jet.
Onanuga stated that the president’s visit includes a retreat to assess the progress of current reforms and to plan strategically ahead of the administration’s second anniversary.
Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria by April 16, 2025.
