Lagos begins free Medical Screening for 2025 Hajj Pilgrims

The Lagos State Government, through the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, has commenced a free medical screening exercise for intending pilgrims ahead of the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.

EpeInsights reports that the initiative, which focuses on assessing the health of intending pilgrims, is intended to detect potential medical conditions and provide necessary treatment before their journey to Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to pilgrims in Badagry and Ojo Local Government Areas, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Layode, reiterated the Sanwo-Olu administration’s dedication to safeguarding the health and well-being of Lagos residents.

Layode encouraged the 1,400 prospective pilgrims and officials to represent the state positively during the Hajj. He praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat for decentralizing the medical screening, making it more accessible and efficient.

Abdulakeem Ajimagbere, Executive Secretary of the Lagos Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, highlighted the importance of being medically fit for the pilgrimage and urged pilgrims to pray for peace and progress in Lagos and across Nigeria.

Dr. Mezeedat Erinosho, Director of Medical, Admin, Training, and Programmes at the Ministry of Health, described the screening as a crucial initiative. She said it encourages a culture of health consciousness, ensures vaccinations, and delivers comprehensive care to participants.

Several intending pilgrims expressed appreciation to the state government, describing the initiative as timely and impactful.
