Former LG Chairman stabbed to death in Bauchi

A former chairman of the Jama’are Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Isa Wabi, has been killed in a violent attack allegedly carried out by acquaintances of his son.

According to a statement by the Bauchi State Police Command, a man was fatally stabbed in the early hours of Friday at his residence in the Fadaman Mada area, behind Government Girls’ Secondary School, Bauchi.

Police officers responded promptly to a distress call from a concerned resident and found the victim, identified as Wabi, in critical condition with multiple stab wounds to the neck. He was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.

Preliminary investigations indicate the attack was allegedly carried out by two individuals—Ahmad Abdulkadir (alias Abba) and Faruk Malami (alias Ajebo)—both known associates of Wabi’s 24-year-old son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed. The suspects reportedly broke into the home around 3 a.m. with the intent to assault him.

In a surprising development, one of the suspects, Malami (Ajebo), was found unconscious at the scene, reportedly as a result of a retaliatory act. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have detained Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed for questioning. Authorities say he has been cooperative and is providing valuable information to aid the investigation.

“The command is conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the full circumstances of this tragic event and to ensure that all those responsible are held accountable,” the statement said.

Following the incident, Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, visited the victim’s family to express condolences and assured them of a comprehensive and discreet investigation to deliver justice.
