Defections: PDP loses six Reps to APC, gains 2 from LP

On Tuesday, six members of the House of Representatives from Delta State announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Additionally, two lawmakers from Enugu State defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The defections were formally announced by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas during the House’s plenary session in Abuja.

The Delta State lawmakers who switched parties are Reps. Victor Nwokolo, Julius Pondi, Thomas Ereyitomi, Nicholas Mutu, Ukodhiko Jonathan, and Nnamdi Ezechi.
From Enugu State, Reps. Mark Obetta and Denis Nnamdi also announced their defection.

According to the lawmakers, unresolved internal crises and the existence of parallel leadership structures within their former parties prompted their decisions, which were made after extensive consultations.

It is worth noting that just two weeks earlier, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa also left the PDP to join the APC.
