Nigerian actor and filmmaker Abdullateef Adedimeji, alongside his wife, Mo’ Bimpe Adedimeji, clinched the Best Indigenous Language (West Africa) award at the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for their film Lisabi: The Uprising.

Lisabi: The Uprising tells the story of the Egba people in the 1800s, who endured oppression from the Alaafin of Oyo and his warriors. The film’s protagonist, Lisabi, an Egba farmer, emerges as a leader, uniting fellow farmers to resist the tyranny of the Ilari Oyo, who had become a relentless threat to their existence.
