The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced winners in its Local Government chairmanship primaries conducted across 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State.
The primary elections were conducted under tight security, with a heavy presence of law enforcement at the party’s state secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja. Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, was present to oversee the security arrangements at the venue and its surroundings.
Personnel from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) also provided additional security support. Officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow.
However, access to the road leading to the venue was restricted, causing traffic congestion along ACME Road and adjoining routes. Commuters were forced to take alternative roads to reach their destinations.
Approximately 1,500 party delegates from various council areas were screened and accredited before casting their votes.
The APC leadership expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the primaries and urged all party members to stay united and committed as preparations for the general elections commence.
