The Osun State House of Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Governor Ademola Adeleke and formally endorsed him for a second term in office.
Governor Adeleke, whose current tenure ends in November 2026, received unanimous backing from all 25 lawmakers present at the plenary session.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Olamide Tiamiyu, the endorsement came from the entire 26-member Assembly—comprising 25 members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The lawmakers expressed full support for Governor Adeleke during the plenary on Tuesday,” the statement noted.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, praised Adeleke’s leadership and congratulated him on his recent 65th birthday. He commended the governor’s commitment to the state’s development, citing progress achieved under his five-point agenda.
“As representatives of the people, we take pride in the governor’s leadership and urge him to continue pursuing even greater accomplishments,” Egbedun stated.
Also speaking, Hon. Simeone Popoola, representing Boripe/Boluwaduro State Constituency, described Adeleke as “plain-minded, loving, and genuine”—qualities he said have enhanced the governor’s performance.
The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi (Obokun Constituency) and seconded by Hon. Taofiq Olayiwola (Ede South Constituency).
The motion was then put to a voice vote by the Speaker, and the chamber echoed with unanimous “Ayes,” officially signaling the Assembly’s endorsement of Governor Adeleke for another term.
