Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have killed a suspected bandit and recovered weapons during a clearance operation in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
According to Captain Oni Olubodunde, Acting Spokesperson for the Brigade, the operation was carried out following a recent strategic visit by Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, to the Bandawa community, where he emphasised the need for a stronger security presence and swift action.
“Troops on a fighting patrol along the Bandawa–Karim Lamido road encountered armed criminals. In a swift and decisive exchange of fire, the soldiers neutralised one bandit and recovered an AK-47 rifle and 39 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition,” Olubodunde said.
The Brigade reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating criminal threats and restoring peace in the state.
In a separate development, a peace meeting was held on May 12, 2025, to address ongoing tensions between the Kashimbila (Taraba State) and Jato Aka (Benue State) communities. The area has experienced repeated clashes, with motorists facing attacks along the Kashimbila–Jato Aka road.
The Army called on citizens to support peace and security efforts by providing timely and credible intelligence to security forces across Taraba.
