One PDP, two NNPP reps defect to APC

Three members of the House of Representatives  – one from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and two from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) –  have officially dumped their parties for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Among the lawmakers who resigned from their parties were Oluwole Oke (PDP, Osun) and Kabiru Rurum and Abdullahi Rogo (both NNPP, Kano State).

They formally declared their defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during Thursday’s plenary session.

Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, read their resignation letters while presiding over the proceedings in the lower chamber.

Oke, a six-term representative of Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, had previously signaled his intention to leave the PDP on April 23.

He explained that his decision followed consultations with political allies, friends, and family members.

APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje was present in the chamber to witness the defections. He was accompanied by the Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, along with other key APC figures from Kano State.
