The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has suspended its nationwide strike which began on Monday, following the intervention of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.
In a communiqué released after a crucial meeting with representatives of the CJN, Minister of Labour and Employment Muhammad Dingyadi, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and other stakeholders, JUSUN announced that it would pause the industrial action to allow for a one-month negotiation window.
The union said the decision was based on agreements reached, including:
- Federal Government to release judicial funds within a month.
- Immediate implementation of JUSUN’s demands upon disbursement.
JUSUN’s demands include the implementation of the new ₦70,000 minimum wage and arrears, a 25.35% salary increment, and five months of outstanding wage awards.
Citing the CJN’s commitment to addressing the issues, the union directed all members to resume duties starting Wednesday.
