Vice President Kashim Shettima yesterday called on Nigerians to embrace national unity, collective sacrifice, and unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, as the nation joined the global Muslim community in celebrating Eid al-Adha.
A similar appeal came from the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, who emphasized the need for unity among Nigerian leaders to tackle the country’s challenges effectively.
Also speaking in the spirit of the occasion, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu encouraged citizens to offer prayers for peace, stability, and continued progress in the nation.
During the Eid prayers held at the National Eid Ground along Airport Road in Abuja, Vice President Shettima urged Nigerians to rise above ethnic, religious, and political divisions, stressing that unity is the foundation for national development and lasting peace.
In a statement issued by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Shettima described Eid al-Adha as a solemn occasion inspired by Prophet Ibrahim’s legacy of obedience and sacrifice, virtues he said are vital to building a strong, united Nigeria.
