President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former President Muhammadu Buhari, and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, were among several prominent Nigerians who paid heartfelt tributes on the passing of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mohammed Uwais, who died at the age of 89.
Sources at the Supreme Court confirmed to The Nation that Justice Uwais passed away in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, Kayode Ajulo (SAN), and legal luminary Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), also paid moving tributes, affirming the loss of an iconic figure in Nigeria’s legal history.
In his message of condolence, President Tinubu described the late jurist as a “phenomenal jurist and statesman,” noting that his legacy would remain deeply embedded in the annals of Nigeria’s judiciary and democratic development.
