Army deploys 6,195 fresh combatants to strengthen operational capacity

The Nigerian Army is set to induct 6,195 newly trained regular combatants into its ranks as part of ongoing efforts to boost manpower and enhance operational effectiveness across various theatres of operation nationwide.

The recruits, who make up the 88 Regular Recruit Intake (88RRI), began their training on January 13 at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State. After six months of intensive military instruction, they are now set to graduate in a formal passing out parade.

A total of 6,450 candidates were initially admitted into the programme, but 255 were unable to complete the training.

The passing out parade will be reviewed by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, who is expected to officially welcome the new soldiers into active service.

Military sources revealed that the new personnel will be deployed across the country to support ongoing operations aimed at tackling terrorism, insurgency, banditry, and other security challenges. Following their deployment, the soldiers will also undergo additional specialised training tailored to the specific needs of their assigned locations.

This latest recruitment and deployment exercise is part of the Army’s broader strategy to maintain a high level of combat readiness and to adapt proactively to Nigeria’s dynamic security landscape.
