NiMet predicts three-day rain, thunderstorms from Saturday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, in its weather outlook released on Friday in Abuja, has predicted early morning thunderstorms accompanied by rain starting from Saturday to Monday across Nigeria.

Early morning thunderstorms are expected over parts of Taraba, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, and Adamawa States. As the day progresses, thunderstorms accompanied by rain are likely over Borno, Sokoto, Gombe, Bauchi, and the aforementioned areas.

For Sunday and Monday, NiMet predicts further morning thunderstorms over parts of Kaduna, Kebbi, Adamawa, and Taraba, with rainfall expected later in Zamfara, Gombe, and Bauchi.

Morning thunderstorms are anticipated in Benue, Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Later in the day, storms with rain are likely across Kogi, Kwara, and the same earlier-mentioned areas.

The forecast also includes patches of cloud with sunshine intervals and afternoon/evening thunderstorms over parts of Kogi, Kwara, Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa, and Benue.

A generally cloudy atmosphere is expected, with chances of morning rain in parts of Enugu, Ebonyi, Cross River, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa.

Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms and rainfall are predicted across Imo, Abia, Anambra, Ondo, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, and Rivers, among others.

NiMet highlighted that Monday may bring morning thunderstorms to Delta, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River, followed by isolated thunderstorms over a wide area of the South by afternoon.
