The family of late Nigerian boxer Segun “Success” Olanrewaju has expressed relief as his remains are expected to arrive in Nigeria on Tuesday, nearly three months after his tragic passing in Ghana.
Olanrewaju’s mother shared that while the exact arrival time is still unknown, the family is comforted by the news that he will finally be brought home.
“Thank God they are bringing him on Tuesday. We’re not sure if it will be in the morning or evening yet, but we’re just grateful he’s finally coming home,” she said.
Still mourning her son, she acknowledged that his return won’t ease the pain entirely, but it will allow the family to begin the process of finding peace.
“They should just bring him. Even when he arrives, I know I won’t feel completely okay, but at least we can bury him so he can rest,” she added.
The family has begun making arrangements to receive the body. Some relatives will go to the airport, while others will remain in Ota, Ogun State, where he will be laid to rest.
“Some of us will go to the airport to receive his body, while the rest of us will be here in Ota, waiting. Once he’s brought back, we’ll proceed with the burial,” she explained.
The funeral is expected to take place either Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on when the body arrives.
