Arsenal complete €65m signing of Martin Zubimendi, says Romano

Arsenal have officially signed Spanish midfield anchor Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad in a deal reportedly worth €64–65 million, marking the club’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

The transfer was confirmed by Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who announced on his official X (formerly Twitter) account that all paperwork had been completed and Zubimendi had finalized formalities in London.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who spent his entire senior career at Real Sociedad, departs the La Liga club after making 185 appearances across all competitions since his debut in 2019.

Zubimendi played a key role in Sociedad’s consistent top-six finishes and European qualifications over the past five seasons, establishing himself as one of Spain’s most reliable holding midfielders.

During the 2023/24 season, he featured in 41 matches, boasting a 90.2% pass accuracy, winning 62% of ground duels, and averaging 2.1 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per game, according to Opta statistics.
