Four killed, homes destroyed as gunmen attack Osun community

Four people were confirmed dead on Friday after suspected gunmen launched an attack on Ido Ayegunle, a community near Esa Oke in Osun State.

During the assault, the attackers reportedly set buildings on fire and destroyed properties belonging to residents.

While the identities of the assailants remain unconfirmed, the Obanla of Ido Ayegunle, Chief Ibironke Adebusuyi, alleged that the attackers came from the nearby town of Esa Oke.

Tensions between Esa Oke and Ido Ayegunle have been high since January, following the Osun State Government’s appointment of Prince Oluwatimileyin Oluyemi Ajayi as the Olojudo of Ido Ayegunle — a move that has sparked unrest.

Commenting on the latest incident, Chief Adebusuyi said the attackers had their faces covered, making it difficult to identify them.
