PSG and Chelsea gear up for Club World Cup final clash

The first edition of FIFA’s expanded Club World Cup will conclude on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, where reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain will face Chelsea in the final. Among those expected to attend is former U.S. President Donald Trump.

This glamorous matchup is exactly what FIFA president Gianni Infantino envisioned to close the tournament, which he described on Saturday as the beginning of “the golden era of club football.”

Chelsea’s coach, Enzo Maresca, admitted ahead of the match that PSG are “probably the best team in the world right now.” The French club aims to cap off a remarkable season by securing a historic clean sweep of trophies.

PSG secured a French league and cup double before winning the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history with a record 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the final last May.

Luis Enrique’s squad has continued their dominant form in the Club World Cup, scoring four goals against Atletico Madrid in the group stage, another four against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, and then defeating Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.

They followed that with an impressive 4-0 demolition of Real Madrid in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
