Two Dead, Eight Rescued After Uncompleted Building Collapses in Kano

A three-storey uncompleted building collapsed in the Sabon Gari area of Kano State on Sunday night, killing two people and injuring several others.

The incident followed a heavy rainfall that lasted over five hours, prompting victims to take shelter in the structure before it gave way. Eight people were rescued and are currently receiving treatment at Murtala Mohammed Hospital.

Kano State Emergency Management Agency’s Executive Secretary, Isyaku Kubarachi, described the building as structurally weak, blaming the use of substandard materials. He stressed the need for accountability and called on the government to take action against those involved.

Excavation efforts continue as locals expressed frustration, stating that prior warnings about the poor quality of the building materials were ignored.
