Xi Jinping Meets Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov to Strengthen China-Russia Ties

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Beijing on Monday, reaffirming the deepening strategic partnership between China and Russia amid shifting global power dynamics.

The meeting, held at the Great Hall of the People, underscored the two nations’ shared commitment to a multipolar world order and closer diplomatic coordination. It comes at a time of heightened global tensions, particularly in Eastern Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

President Xi emphasized that China views its relationship with Russia as a priority in its foreign policy and expressed Beijing’s readiness to work with Moscow to “safeguard international fairness and justice.”

“China is prepared to strengthen coordination with Russia on international and regional affairs, and jointly safeguard the common interests of both countries,” Xi stated during the bilateral talks.

Lavrov, in response, conveyed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s greetings and reiterated Russia’s appreciation for China’s balanced stance on global issues. He also emphasized Moscow’s commitment to enhancing political trust and expanding economic cooperation with Beijing.
