Senate President Godswill Akpabio has filed an appeal against the July 4 ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which ordered the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan following her suspension from the Senate.
In a notice of appeal, Akpabio’s legal team argues that the court lacks jurisdiction, stating the case involves internal legislative matters that fall outside judicial oversight, citing Section 251 of the 1999 Constitution.
The appeal, containing 11 grounds, also faults the lower court for dismissing Akpabio’s preliminary objection and interfering in parliamentary procedures legally protected from external intervention.
